Overall, Steve is a great boss to work for. Always positive, does everything he can to help and keeps upper mgt at bay. Steve’s only fatal (albeit hilarious) flaw is that the bulk of his comments would make the average HR manager flip out. From calling every flamboyant XO trainer gay, to telling us to call Jewish-sounding businesses the week leading up to Easter, Steve lives in the world of political incorrectness.
Steve has a knack for even bringing us into the mix. About 6 months ago, I closed a large deal and his celebratory email to our sales team read: “His Cavs lost LeBron, but Rob got Carolina Cat.” While losing LeBron is (was) a sore subject, closing that deal got us to St. Lucia, so I definitely didn’t mind the bittersweet comment.
Most recently, my friend/co-worker John and I got promoted (yay, more money for diapers & baby food). During the meeting, Steve leads off with: “You’ve done well this past year. You moved to a new city. You knocked up your wife. (With Josh, our GM cringing)…What? I’m trying to keep it light… ” Classic Steve.
Working in telecom/sales can be brutal, but Steve keeps it interesting…
