With squishy's arrival a few months out and 2010 over, it's time to recap the last few months...
Thanksgiving - Got to spend some quality time with family & friends and enjoy one thing the original Thanksgiving cast was missing - deep fried turkey!
St Lucia - Overall, an amazing trip, everything we hoped for and more on our return trip to the Caribbean. I definitely wasn't the whitest guy there, but despite my moderate tan, Gena's metamorphosis from olive skin to burnt sienna definitely stole the show. (Squishy, I really hope you end up with your mom's skin tone).
Christmas - Another solid dose of quality time with the fam and our friends back in Cleveland. In addition to getting some great gifts, both Gena and I had a surprise baby shower/diaper party. A great time was had by all and we really are blessed to have so much support for the upcoming new addition.
New Years - A pretty low key NYE, but fun nonetheless. Add another restaurant to the list of places to take people that come and visit... For lunch, we went to the Cowfish - burgers & sushi dishes and one of the biggest menus we've seen in a while. For dinner, we went to one of the oldest restaurants in Charlotte, Beef & Bottle. It reminded me a lot of The Perfect Match (minus the rat-eaten bread), where Tony and I use to work and Tony got his start at becoming a chef.
Moving to Ballantyne - Finally escaping the Kann! While I'm sure Mr. Earnhardt would disagree, we can't get out of Kannapolis fast enough. Beyond the long commute for both our jobs, the lack of restaurants, grocery stores, etc isn't ideal for building a family. The jewel (more like a polished turd) of Kannapolis is their Super Wal-Mart. Nowhere in the country will you find a single place that on any given day can boast multiple cars without doors, a parking lot that doubles as a bus stop and the opportunity to meet world-class individuals. A few months ago, we had the pleasure of experiencing a well-dressed, classy gentleman make a bold statement to his stunning, very athletic girlfriend and she responded with a rather witty response:
Gentleman - "That guy's lucky I don't got my gun! I'd bust a cap in his ass!"
Girlfriend - "You can't shoot ‘em in the parking lot...dey got cameras."
Needless to say, we're looking forward to moving to Ballantyne, the "Strongsville" of Charlotte.
