Big brother, your life is going to change soon and you have no idea what you are in for. Before Squishy makes his/her debut, I'd just like to have a word with you...you know, just in case we forget all about you once the baby is here like everyone says is going to happen.
Please remember the trips to Petsmart to buy you $150 worth of treats, just because. Remember us taking you to the dog bakery and to Woofstock and to Dog Days. Remember the weekly doggie day care sessions. Remember your dad carrying you up the stairs in Savannah & across the cobblestone streets that you hated. Remember your mom holding you close when you had your dental cleaning and were loopy from the anesthesia (but feel free to forget the dental part, because we all know how much you hated me, car rides, and the doctor's office after that). Remember the trips to Cold Stone for ice cream with peanut butter.
Please remember these things, even if we forget to feed you dinner on time. Even if we yell at you for stealing baby socks and chewing diapers. Even if we don't get to take you to the dog bar anymore. Even if you hear us bitching about how much dog hair is floating around our house like tumbleweeds.
Even if you think we don't love you anymore, you couldn't be more wrong. Because I remember your smiling face when I get home from work. I remember you laying by my side when I was sick on the bathroom floor. I remember you licking my face when I cried. And a mom always loves her first born the most.

I need to stop reading your wallace posts at work, im at my desk crying. For some reason this week I have really been missing Buster, I havent seen him since october and thought has crossed my mind many times to dog nap him. I think Wallace will know and hes going to be a great big brother.
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry Em! If it makes you feel any better, I was totally crying when I wrote it at work. I had to lie & tell my coworkers my allergies were acting up lol.
