We lasted a week

Every parent that's had a child go to daycare loves to tell horror stories about them getting sick a million times. I have to say, I felt pretty cocky that it wasn't going to happen to us...turns out I was wrong.
Over the weekend, we noticed Fi had a lot more bowel movements than usual. I would say maybe it was diarrhea, but if you've changed a breastfed baby's diaper, you know it's kind of hard to tell what's diarrhea & what's just normal poop.
On Sunday, her butt was super red. Great, we had our first diaper rash. Monday rolls around, I pick her up at lunch where they let me know she pooped 4 times in less than an hour. Oh, and she was still rocking a red heiny monkey butt.
I felt so bad, so like a typical first time mom, I run to the doctor. Big surprise, she caught her first bug. There's really nothing we can do but give her probitotics and let the virus run it's course. And lots of naked tummy time to let her "butt breathe."

Plus we've had to change up our diaper change routine to include: change diaper, wipe, blow dry heiny, apply butt paste, blow dry heiny, apply rash protectant spray, blow dry heiny, putt on clean diaper. Oh, and cry every time I see that flaming red baboon butt staring at me. The good news is, she seems to love having her tooshie blow dried. I think we may be setting her up for some weird fetish as an adult.

  1. Awww so sad to hear Fi caught her first bout of the "Daycare Crud." I think it only took Alli a week to bring something home and get the whole family sick too... luckily she recovered from it faster than I did! However, it wasn't until her first tooth came in that we were busting out the butt paste - I never knew teething could cause diarrhea too. Not too sure about the blow-drying though, might want to ease up on that a bit before you wind up with a kid that actually enjoys having smoke blown up their a...
