Anneliese Sophia Koehler. AK (which papa Rob fuller expects to use while Fi is playing some variety of a full contact sport). Fi.
So where did Anneliese come from? My middle name is Alyss (pronounced Alyse. Don't ask about the spelling, I'm not sure how it came about. I am sure that I'm tired of being called Jena A-liss Kohler though), after my mom's mom Alice. We decided that if we had a girl, I wanted some part of me to be carried on. I mean, Rob gets the last name (until she gets married anyway).
We planned on using Alyss/Alyse as a middle name, but went back and forth on the first name. Finally, I came across Analise and fell in love (although I refused to spell it that way because my child would not have anal in their name).
I figured Anne (which is Rob's grandmother's first name and his mom's middle name) + Alyse would be an easy sell but he wasn't convinced since he thought no one would ever pronounce it the "correct" way. (It's German and is supposed to be pronounced Ahna-leeze.)
I finally gave it and accepted it and said we would just pronounce it Anna-lease instead. Plus we found out that Steven Seagal's daughter is named Annalise & it sealed the deal for Rob. (Oh yeah, and Anne Frank's real name is Annelies but he could have cared less about that.)
Sophia was originally one of our top first name picks, but we learned how popular it was becoming and I didn't want Fi to be one of 5 Sophia's in her class. We loved the named and it meant something to us - Queen Charlotte (Sophia Charlotte) is the namesake of Charlotte & why it's nicknamed the Queen City. Her birthdate (May 19th) also just happens to be our wedding anniversary.
And you may be wondering why Fi is Fi? From her middle name Sophia- So-Fi-a. It's short, easy to say & text. And it's nice to have a nickname for her that's not just the shortening of her name like Anne or Anna (PS if you call her those, I will shank you). Plus, it's cheaper to monogram.
