Happy half-year

Dear Anneliese (I feel like I am supposed to call you by your given name now that you're 6 months old & so mature),

I cannot believe it's been half a year since the day you were born. The last week I have been going through your birth-1 month pictures and I can't believe that you were that tiny! People that I work with are quick to tell me how big you're getting, but I'm clearly in denial.

This month has brought some new and exciting developments for you. You started eating big girl food! And boy are you quick to show us what you like and do not like. So far, it seems you have a sweet tooth like your mama. You've been OK with Oatmeal, but you did not care for green beans, sweet potato, or squash. But you know what you did love? Bananas! You smacked your lips and hmmmed as you ate them. I guess it makes sense since your nickname was hairy little monkey baby when you were born.

You are a water baby. You were outgrowing your infant tub so we got you a new tub & you just love kicking your feet & splashing around in it. If you can reach it, you try to grab the water coming out of the faucet (which is the same thing you do when I'm attempting to wash your hands at school).

You really want to crawl. When I pick you up from school, I stand at the sink washing my hands & you roll on your belly and start doing your swim move to try to get to me. You never whine but you get so sad when you figure out you're not getting any closer, you start to cry. It makes my heart melt that you want your mama so badly.

Your personality has really started coming out. I love watching you every day & learning all of your habits & quirks. You are such a laid back, happy-go-lucky little girl. You have such a sweet disposition & nothing (except hunger & overtiredness) ruffles your feathers.

You love to laugh, especially at your dad. The only person that makes you laugh harder than papa Rob is yourself.

Baby girl, you've only been here for 6 short months, but you have made our lives 1000x better. Your smile makes even my darkest days bright. We love you so, so much and cannot wait to see what the next 6 months (and beyond) have in store for us.

Love,

Your mama

  1. Happy 6 months Anneliese! I can't believe how fast it's gone either... she sounds so much more laid back than our high maintenance fuss pants... just making sure you know how lucky you are! Hopefully, that means our teenage years will be easier and yours will be harder :) Haha! Can't wait to see you all SOON!
