Go wild

This weekend we planned a trip to Columbia to meet up w/the Meibers clan & hit up the Riverbanks zoo. Fi was less impressed in the animals, but it was so cute to see Alli toddling around & smiling at the monkeys. It's so nice having them close to visit, especially since they are so close in age, it's amazing to think that will be Fi in just 6 short months!

And if you've ever got the chance to go, the Riverbanks Zoo is quite impressive! Growing up outside of Cleveland, we were only 45 minutes away from the zoo so driving almost 2hrs to Columbia wasn't ideal but it was well worth the drive. Aside from just the company, Riverbanks lets you get super close to the animals (a little too close). We were able to feed & pet giraffes, a flamingo came up to the fence, you can walk in the same enclosure as kangaroos & wallabies, and the monkeys were close enough to hit w/my Starbucks (not that I would have thrown it...Starbucks is expensive...oh, and I don't condone monkey violence).

So, although 2 hours in a car with a teething infant wasn't a picnic, we had a great time & I'm looking forward to the next trip.

Oh and you want to talk about multitasking, I am pretty proud of myself for being able to pump while walking around the zoo! I'm pretty sure people thought I was a dipshit for walking around w/what looked like a backward cape (Brittany was nice enough to let me borrow her nursing cover), but I was going to be damned if I was going to waste 20 minutes sitting in the bathroom at the zoo. Thankfully since the place was crawling with kids, there were lots of moms nursing in public so it didn't seem to phase anyone and hell, maybe I'll even do it again.

  1. We had a great time hanging out with you guys at the zoo! Alli had a blast walking around, and I think it lead to her walking on her own on Sunday... so the extra practice was good for her. Even though Fi might not have appreciated it, she'll enjoy the pictures when she's older.
