Yackity, yack

Usually we have to wake up Anneliese to get her ready for school, but Thursday we could hear her moving around. We laid in bed (trying to convince ourselves that we could in fact get up and function yet another day with no sleep) & listened to her babbling in her crib when all of a sudden, I heard it. The first babble that resembled an actual word: dada. And then again. And again.

Of course papa Rob says we can't count it as her first word, since she obviously doesn't know what it means, but forget that, I'm in charge of the baby book and I'm totally counting it! I've tried to catch it on tape with no luck yet (when the phone comes out, her first move is to stop talking, concentrate on snatching it away & promptly shoving it in her mouth), but we met up with friends this weekend and as soon as she did it, they said, "Oh my gosh, did she just say 'dada'?" (In yo face, Rob.)

And PS why does this kid obviously hate me? I mean, we all know she loves papa Rob way more and now dada has to be her first word too? Way to throw salt in the wound, Fi.

  1. And thus it begins... before you know it, she'll be talking back to you. And not in a fun, conversation sorta way - but in a sassy-pants sorta way. And don't feel bad, I think like 98% of children say "dada" first. The other two percent's parents lie about it.
